Tour itinerary
Day 1: Tangier – Chefchaouen – Fes
Your 3 days Sahara desert tour from Tangier begins with a pick-up at your hotel or the port. We drive through the scenic Rif Mountains, with their green valleys and panoramic views, until we reach the charming town of Chefchaouen, also called the Blue Pearl. Stroll through its narrow streets, admire the Spanish-style architecture, and take beautiful photos of the blue-painted houses.
After exploring Chefchaouen, we continue to Fes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities. Fes is home to the largest old Medina in the world, full of history, souks, and cultural treasures. In the evening, you’ll check into a traditional Riad for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Fes – Ifrane – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga (Camel Trekking & Desert Camp)
After breakfast, we leave Fes behind and head towards the Sahara Desert. Our first stop is Ifrane, often called the Switzerland of Morocco for its alpine-style houses and snowy winters. Then, we visit the Cedar Forest near Azrou, where you’ll meet the friendly Barbary apes.
We continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing Midelt and enjoying the rocky landscapes and Berber villages. Along the way, we’ll stop at panoramic viewpoints, especially over the Ziz Valley with its endless palm groves.
Next, we drive through Erfoud, famous for its fossils, and then to Rissani, known for its traditional souk. By the afternoon, we reach Merzouga Desert, where your camel caravan awaits. Ride across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, enjoy the magical sunset, and then arrive at your luxury desert camp.
Dinner will be served under the stars, followed by Berber music around the campfire. Overnight stay in your private tent in the heart of the Sahara.
Day 3: Merzouga – Tinghir – Todra Gorge – Boumalne Dades – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Wake up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the dunes, one of the highlights of any desert trip. After breakfast, we ride camels (or take a 4×4) back to the village of Merzouga, where our driver will be waiting.
We continue our journey through Tinghir, stopping to explore the famous Todra Gorge with its towering cliffs and beautiful palm oasis. Then we pass through Boumalne Dades and drive along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs.
Next, we stop at Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Morocco”, known for its film studios and the spectacular Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Finally, we cross the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, with breathtaking landscapes and Berber villages, before arriving in Marrakech, where your 3-day Tangier desert tour ends.
