Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley
Your 3 days desert tour from Marrakech begins with a morning pick-up at 8:00 am from your riad or hotel. We’ll travel across the High Atlas Mountains through the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, enjoying panoramic stops for photos of Berber villages hidden in the valleys. Our first highlight is the UNESCO World Heritage site Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a legendary fortress and filming location for movies like Gladiator, The Mummy and Game of Thrones.
After free time for lunch, we continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert” and home to the impressive Kasbah Taourirt. From there, we pass through the Skoura Oasis and the fragrant Valley of Roses, where rosewater is made and the annual Rose Festival takes place. By evening, we arrive in the beautiful Dades Valley, where dinner and overnight stay await.
Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga – Camel Trek – Berber Camp
After breakfast, we drive through the winding roads of the Dades Valley, admiring kasbahs and spectacular mountain views. Our journey continues to the majestic Todra Gorges, a natural canyon with towering cliffs popular among rock climbers. After a short walk and lunch along the way, we head toward the golden dunes of Merzouga Desert.
On arrival, your adventure begins with a camel trek across Erg Chebbi dunes, where you will witness a breathtaking Sahara sunset. We then reach our desert camp, where you will enjoy a delicious dinner, traditional Berber music around the fire, and an unforgettable night under a sky full of stars in your desert tent.
Day 3: Merzouga – Draa Valley – Anti Atlas – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Wake up early to catch the magical sunrise over the Sahara dunes before riding camels back to Merzouga village. After breakfast, we begin our return journey, driving through pre-desert landscapes dotted with acacia trees. Along the way, we pass through the scenic Draa Valley, the longest river valley in Morocco, offering palm groves and stunning views.
Our road continues across the Anti Atlas Mountains, with stops for photos and lunch in Ouarzazate. In the late afternoon, we drive back through the High Atlas, arriving in Marrakech around 8:00 pm, where we drop you off at your accommodation marking the end of your unforgettable 3-day Sahara desert tour.
